The kit fox (Vulpes macrotis) is a fox species of North America. They has been thought by some to be a subspecies of the swift fox. The geographic range of the kit fox reaches its northernmost extent in the great Basin provinces of oregon and southern Idaho. The kit fox is related to shrub-steppe communities throughout its geographic vary. This fox presently inhabits desert and semi-arid regions between the Sierra Silver State Mountains and the rocky mountains and on down into baja california and also the North Central states of Mexico; it’s also found within the San Joaquin valley of California.

Distribution and habitat

Kit foxes are primarily found in arid regions, resembling desert scrub, chaparral, and grasslands. Kit fox are found within the southwestern a part of the u. s. and northern and central mexico. They become sexually mature at 10 months. each oldsters participate in raising and protecting their young.

Feeding for Kit Fox

The kit fox is mostly a nocturnal animal. They are mostly eating little animals admire kangaroo rats, rabbits, hayfield voles, hares, grassland dogs, insects, lizards, snakes, fish, and ground-dwelling birds. Whereas primarily carnivorous, if food is scarce, it’s been identified to eat tomatoes, succulent fruits and alternative fruits.
