Pythonidae Information

The pythonidae, commonly known simply as pythons, from the Greek word python, are a family of nonvenomous snakes. Among its members are some of some of snakes in the world. It consists 8 genera and 57 species and subspecies. Pythons differ from Boas in that they lay eggs in stead of giving birth to live young. unlike many other snake species, pythons don’t produce venom – they’re non-venomous snakes. Pythons don’t attack humans, unless they are provoked or stressed.

Distribution and habitat

Pythons live in the tropical areas of africa and Asia. they can be found in rainforests, savannas and deserts. heaps of individuals keep them as pets. they create their homes in caves or in trees and have become accustomed living in cities and towns since people have been moving in on their territory. Pythons are found everyplace in world love in sub-saharan africa, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Burma, southern China, southeast asia, and from the Philippines southeast through indonesia to new guinea and Australia.

Pythons have different diets, depending on their size. bigger pythons eat mammals as big as monkeys, wallabies, rodents, lizards and small birds, antelope and pigs. after they’ve grabbed their prey in their long teeth, pythons kill it by constriction. when the prey is dead, pythons slowly open their jaws and swallow the prey whole, head first.
