Origin and History

Sun conures are original regions in South America. They are originally found around the northern part of South American, in Venezuela, north of Brazil, and Guyana. The birds are generally placed in tropical habitats away from the coastline, although they have been observed in more temperate savanna forests and coastal forests.

This tree-loving species favors groves of palms and fruiting trees. These birds make up their home and many of their diet. This bird was introduced and purchased in the United States for several years until its import in 1992. However, they were banned in the EU in 2007.
